چکیده
FCC regulations require radiation power of certain devices at some certain level, and the power attenuation of electromagnetic wave though air is P (d) ∝ 1 d2 Psource at far field, thus we can use received power information to know the the distance from a client to the access point (AP). If the distance of the client to at least 3 APs are know, we can then use a method called trilateration[2] to know where the client is. An example application of RSSI is that when you are dialing 911, the base stations will measure their received power and tell the police what is your location. The pros of this method is its easiness in adoption. However, multiple path result in constructively addition and destructively subtraction will make the power distribution much more complex than the equation described above. Thus for the usual indoor application, a lot of start-ups are tying

In the last lecture, we discussed Reference Broadcast Synchronization, a mechanism which addresses the problem of energy-frugal μ-second precision time synchronization. The method involved synchronization between receivers based on the arrival time of a reference broadcast. The algorithm was extended to work on multiple domains as well, where nodes not in the same broadcast domain achieve this ...
متن کاملLocalization of Radio Controlled Unintended Emitting Devices
Localization of unintended passive emissions from radio controlled (RC) devices has a great importance due to security concerns. This paper analyzes the challenges of locating such devices in the presence of multipath fading by using angle of arrival (AoA) method for passive devices. Phased array processing, smooth multiple signal classification (Smooth MUSIC) algorithms are the methods used to...

In the course we have already seen different Biclustering methods such as Cheng-Church, ISA, SAMBA (see scribe 5), OPSM (see scribe 9). The method described in this lecture is Bimax an algorithm due to Prelić et al. [2]. It uses a simple data model reflecting the fundamental idea of biclustering, while aiming to determine all optimal biclusters in reasonable time. This method has the benefit of...
متن کاملPoster Abstract: Bayesian Localization in Wireless Networks Using Angle of Arrival
Using existing wireless communication networks as a localization infrastructure promises enormous cost and deployment savings over specific localization infrastructures. In this work we investigate a Bayesian network approach that uses a combination of radio signal strength (RSS) to distance estimation along with angle-of-arrival (AoA) information. We characterize the resulting localization acc...

The localization of robots is a main problem to solve to make the robots navigate autonomously. This paper introduces an embedded indoor localization system for mobile robot. The system consists of a localization sensor that computes location of itself and infrared landmarks that are wirelessly controlled by the localization sensor. The localization sensor which is combined with an image sensor...
